Progression Policy
If you have successfully completed 120 credits this year, you will progress to your next level of study.
If you have completed 100 or 80 credits, your progression depends on whether your outstanding credits are covered by Exceptional Circumstances. If yes, you must submit the outstanding reassessments as specified in your Exceptional Circumstances outcome email while continuing to your next level of study. If no, you will need to trail 20-40 credits from your current level alongside your next level of study. For example, you may trail Level 4 credits alongside Level 5 or Level 5 credits alongside Level 6, with teaching support. However, Level 4 credits cannot be trailed into Level 6. If you still have outstanding Level 4 credits when you are due to start Level 6, you must complete them before progressing. If your Level 4 assessments are referred or deferred, you will take a Progression Break, while failed Level 4 credits will require you to register for a part-time year. Compulsory failed modules must be retaken, whereas optional ones may be replaced with alternatives.
If you have completed 60 credits, you will not be permitted to progress to the next level. If your outstanding credits are covered by Exceptional Circumstances, you will take a Progression Break, during which you must submit outstanding assessments but will not attend teaching. If sufficient credits are passed during this period, you may continue to the next level in the following academic year. If your credits are not covered by Exceptional Circumstances, you must enrol part-time to retake 60 credits with teaching. As with other cases, compulsory failed modules must be retaken, while optional ones may be replaced. If you successfully complete your retaken credits, you will be eligible to continue to the next level of study full-time in the following academic year.
If you have completed 40, 20, or 0 credits, you will not be permitted to progress. If Exceptional Circumstances apply, you will take a Progression Break to complete outstanding assessments, without attending teaching. If you pass sufficient credits during this period, you may continue your studies in the following academic year. If Exceptional Circumstances do not apply, you will not be permitted to continue your studies. Failure of 80 or more credits at any level will result in automatic exclusion from your course. If applicable, you will receive an Exit Award for any successfully completed credits.
